Prep roundup: Faith Christian soccer opens season with win over Oxford

Faith Christian went on the road Thursday to open its season and knocked off Oxford 2-1.

Josiah McDaniel finished with a goal and an assist. Jordan Griswould scored the Lions other goal. Sydney Nordan finished with 10 saves.

Eddie Turner scored the Yellow Jackets’ lone goal.

Faith Christian plays Talladega next Friday.


Donoho’s boys and girls tennis teams opened with wins over Victory Christian. The girls won 9-0, while the boys squeaked by with a 5-4 victory.

For the girls, Nina Bidikov (8-1), Brooke Brascho (8-1), Wittney Brown (8-1), Kirin Heathcock (8-3), Sara Mason (8-6) and Rivers Owsley (8-2) won their singles matches. The teams of Bidikov/Brascho (8-2), Brown/Heathcock (8-1), and Mason/Owsley swept the doubles matches as well.

For the boys, Chandler Collins (8-2), Ben Myrick (8-1) and Patrick Huang (8-1) won in singles. The teams of Collins/Jake Walker (8-4) and Myrick/Huang (8-5) won doubles matches.

Both teams play Jacksonville on Tuesday.
