Over the weekend, the Parker County (Texas) Republican Party held its annual fundraiser. Such events are common at this time of year for Republicans. Traditionally, these events carry the name "Lincoln Day," in honor of our 16th president - Abraham Lincoln who was a Republican.

Parker County Republicans had a different idea for Saturday's event. They have renamed it a "Reagan Day" dinner. Precinct chairwoman Evon Markum explains the reason for dropping the name of the chief executive most responsible for ending slavery in the United States and adding Ronald Reagan.

"It’s really more in line with who we are today."

While likely accurate, it's also disheartening.
