The people that the notoriously cranky John McCain thinks are an "idiot" is likely more than we could count in a day. However, the senator from Arizona was never more right than this week in summing up the exploits of Dennis Rodman, who along with other American basketball players, is touring North Korea as the guest of dictator Kim Jong Un.

Speaking on CNN, McCain said:


"I think he’s an idiot. I think he’s the very person that — of not great intellect who doesn’t understand that he really does provide propaganda for this very brutal ruthless young man."

This Washington Post editorial sums it up:


On Wednesday, in a grotesque replay of Marilyn Monroe, he crooned “Happy Birthday to You” to the 31-year-old tyrant before playing an exhibition game in Pyongyang with other washed-up pro basketball players. This came after he proclaimed his “love” for his “friend” and responded to a question about an American held prisoner in a North Korean labor camp with a rant suggesting that he deserved to be there.
