Gov. Robert Bentley is standing in the door barring 300,000 Alabama citizens from receiving health care. The result is that an additional 1,704 in this group will die each year. This number of deaths is based on information in a study by Sommers, Baicker and Epstein that was published in the New England Journal of Medicine Vol. 367, Sept. 13, 2012.

These 300,000 are caught in the middle. Since one or more family members work, they are not eligible for Medicaid, and they do not earn enough to pay the high cost of health insurance and still eat. They are truly just one serious illness in the family from financial ruin.

Gov. Bentley, as a doctor and dedicated Christian, surely you will not continue to bar the door to medical coverage to these hard-working Alabama citizens. Surely, you do not want to be remembered as the one responsible for 1,704 unnecessary deaths each year.
