Pilot Club holds dinner

The Pilot Club of Heflin held its annual “Jacksonville State University International House Dinner” on November 4, at Heflin Baptist Church. Guests included Alabama Pilot District Governor Carolyn Williams of Huntsville, Alabama, Heflin Mayor and Mrs. Rudy Rooks. City Council member, Rhonda Green, City Clerk Shane Smith, and friends and members of the Pilot Club of Heflin. Special guests of JSU International House were Allayar A. Akmyradov of Turkmenistan, Andrea C. Ortiz of Guatemala, Collins Maroa of Kenya and Moyinoluwa Idumu of Nigeria.

Mayor Rooks proclaimed November 4, 2013 as JSU International House Day in Heflin. Each student talked about his or her country and shared memories of home and family. Mayor Rooks presented each International House student with a basket filled with gifts provided by Heflin merchants.

The dinner was MC’d by Pilot Club of Heflin President Darrell Turner.
