This country barely escaped defaulting on its debt and had a recent government shutdown. Americans and the world got nervous. Banks everywhere were stressed. No doubt the United States is upside down in the finance department. The richest country in the world having problems paying their bills?

Social Security and Army retirement payments were in danger of not being sent out. A “no pay” dark cloud was hanging over families of deceased soldiers. A default would have had grave consequences, not only here but worldwide. China was shaking, seeing its money going up in smoke. We are not out of the woods yet and another default possibility may come early next year.

Americans are getting tired that every three or four months a shutdown is lurking. They are tired of worrying that their Social Security checks could be cut in half — or worse, not being sent out. Same with the Army retirement checks. Widows of deceased soldiers depend on that money. Their husbands sweated years to earn it and keep their families safe.

Years of wars and loaning money to Middle East countries for war supplies took its toll. Our troops lost arms and legs and lives in Iraq. For what? Wasted money and lives are the results.

On top of that, our government’s circus performers having rooster fights and are hacking each other without a good solution to all those problems.
