As expected, Alabama sat atop the initial Bowl Championship Series standings.

The Crimson Tide (7-0, 4-0 SEC) is No. 1 in both of the human polls, the USA Today Coaches poll and the Harris Interactive poll, which make up two-thirds of the BCS formula.

There was one surprise as Florida State came in at No. 2 with Oregon at No. 3. Oregon is ranked No. 2 in both the coaches poll and the AP poll.

The Seminoles are coming off a 51-14 thrashing of Clemson in Death Valley.

Ohio State and Missouri round out the top five. Auburn is 11th.
