Oxford High School junior, Sierra Groce, completed the University of Alabama Early College program in Tuscaloosa during the summer. This program allows motivated high school students with a 3.0 or higher grade point average to earn up to 30 hours, almost a full year of college credit online or on campus. Groce also received a partial tuition scholarship.

Groce then traveled to Washington, D.C., for a six-day forum on law and crime scene investigation. She was able to explore the legal system, legal professions and forensic science. She has been chosen to attend an advanced law and trail convention next summer in California.

The high school junior is one of two students chosen to represent Oxford High School and her community with the Youth Leadership Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce program for the year 2013-2014. She was chosen by the counselors and teachers of her school. She is the daughter of Angelo and Serita Groce and the granddaughter of Joseph and Della Lawler.
