Oxford police today released the name of a Mississippi man who died Thursday from a gunshot wound he received in Georgia.

Kenneth Robert Sharp, 33, of Jackson, Miss. died at 10:15 a.m. Thursday of a gunshot wound to the stomach, according to Calhoun County Coroner Pat Brown.

Oxford police Lt. L.G. Owens said Sharp was shot in Warner Robbins, Ga. and is a suspect there in a recent homicide.

Police found Sharp at the parking lot of the Waffle House on Jimmy Hinton Drive around 2:05 a.m. when an employee called for medical help. Sharp had been driven to Oxford from Warner Robbins by Emily Nicole Hooker, 25, of Jefferson, Ga., who was arrested and charged with trafficking in methamphetamine and possession of a pistol without a permit.

Sharp was taken to Regional Medical Center in Anniston for treatment.

Owens said Hooker was still in custody at the Oxford City Jail as of this morning. Her bond is set at $53,000. Owens said Warner Robbins police will transfer Hooker, as well as the black 2010 Dodge Charger she was driving, back to Georgia sometime this afternoon. Owens said Hooker could also face additional charges of homicide pending investigation from the Warner Robbins police.
