Anniston police today were investigating a fire set at an Anniston home on the 2500 block of Norwood Avenue between 9 p.m. Wednesday and 6 a.m. today.

According to Anniston police Capt. Allen George, the victim told police he saw a suspect come to his house, pour gasoline around the perimeter, and then light the gasoline on fire.

George did not say why a police report was not more specific on the time of the fire when the victim claimed to have witnessed it being set.

Anniston Fire Department Sgt. Nick Ball said the fire removed siding and insulation on the outside of the victim’s home, but firefighters were able to put the blaze safely out.

The victim was not injured, according to a police report.

George said Thursday morning that police were searching for a suspect based on a name provided by the victim.

The victim told police Wednesday night he will press charges against the suspect, George said, who may face felony charges of first-degree arson.
