Oxford Baseball for Youth would like to thank the city of Oxford and the Calhoun County Commission for their support of the 2013 Alabama Dixie Youth Baseball AAA (9- and 10-year-old) state tournament hosted by Oxford Baseball for Youth, July 19-26, at the Earl Martin Baseball Complex.

Mayor Leon Smith and the Oxford City Council provided the funds for the bid to host the state tournament, which was $15,000. The city provided field maintenance crews to keep the fields up during the tournament and the opening ceremonies were held in the newly renovated Oxford Civic Center. Mayor Smith and the City Council are always great supporters of Oxford Baseball for Youth, and again we say thank you for that support.

Calhoun County Commissioner Don Hudson and the Calhoun Commission provided $3,000 in support of the state tournament, which assisted with the overhead costs of paying the umpires, buying baseballs, trophies, etc. Calhoun County Commissioner Rudy Abbott was the keynote speaker at the opening ceremonies. Again, thanks for the support.

The 2013 Alabama Dixie Youth Baseball AAA state tournament was a huge success and a great economy boost for the area. Congratulations to Piedmont for winning the state championship.
