Police charged a woman this afternoon with pouring hot grease on her boyfriend during an argument at her Anniston home.

Carolyn Ann Sims, 47, of Anniston was charged with second-degree domestic violence, a felony.

Anniston police Sgt. Chris Sparks said police were called to a home this afternoon on the 400 block of West 29th Street. Sparks said a 52-year-old man told police he was visiting Sims at her home when she got upset with him. During their argument, Sparks said, Sims poured hot grease on the victim’s upper body.

The victim suffered second-degree burns and was taken to Stringfellow Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The sergeant said today the man was expected to recover from his injuries.

Sims was still in the home when police arrived, Sparks said, and officers apprehended her.

Sims was in the Anniston City Jail this afternoon. Bond is set at $2,500. A court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 9.
