A Coldwater pharmacy worker discovered a woman’s body in a trash bin Sunday evening, Oxford police said today.

The body was identified as 20-year-old Sara Aletha Mitchell, of Birmingham, according to a press release emailed by Sgt. Johnny Williams, Birmingham police public information officer. Mitchell was reported missing by a family member on Wednesday, the release said.

Justin Clarence McConico, 23, of Birmingham, was charged with capital murder, the release stated. McConico was discovered at a Georgia rest stop by Haralson County deputies, according to the release.

McConico was being held today by the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office awaiting extradition. No bond was set, the release noted.

The cause of Mitchell’s death will be released by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, according to the release.

Calhoun County Coroner Pat Brown said he received a call about the body Sunday. Brown said his office yielded the case to Jefferson County when he was told the crime occurred there.

Oxford police Chief Bill Partridge said the employee found the body while taking out the trash at the Rite Aid at 4880 U.S. 78 W.

Partridge there was “most definitely foul play” involved in the woman’s death.
