A 51-year-old woman told police early this morning that her boyfriend choked her in their Anniston home.

Anniston police Capt. Allen George said the incident occurred around midnight at a home on the 200 block of Cunningham Drive.

George said the victim and her boyfriend were arguing over their living arrangements. The suspect wanted to have the woman evicted from the home, the captain said.

During the argument, the suspect grabbed the woman’s throat while he pushed her outside the house, George said. The suspect fled before police arrived, George said. The victim told police that her neck was sore, and she would seek medical treatment today, he said.

Any suspect could be charged with domestic violence by strangulation, a felony, according to a police report.
