A man turned himself in to Anniston police on Monday afternoon and was charged with stealing $3,640 in rent money.

Larry Vincent Jr., 50, of Anniston, was charged with felony first-degree theft.

Anniston police Capt. Allen George said Vincent stole money from the Nelford Inn on South Wilmer Street on June 21. Management noticed the money missing, but did not file a police report until June 25.

George said Vincent, a former inn employee, collected two weeks’ worth of rent from tenants and pocketed the money.

George said today [TUESDAY] he did not know how many tenants Vincent stole from.

Vincent turned himself in at the Police Department Monday and was released on a $10,000 bond minutes later.

A court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 19.
