Despite overwhelming, reliable, scientific evidence that climate change is both real and caused (in part) by man, there are those on the extreme right who still deny its existence.

That's an old story. But what's interesting is the small-but-growing number of conservatives who accept climate change's existence and want the Republican Party to wrest control of the discussion away from the far left and the Democrats.

This week, Mother Jones magazine wrote of this scenario after conservative Eli Lehrer penned an op-ed in the Weekly Standard. Lehrer wrote, "Rather than pretend climate change isn’t a problem, there are ample opportunities for Republicans to point out the obvious flaws in the left’s plans to deal with it and offer alternatives of their own. In short, conservatives can take a page from the liberal playbook and use the climate change issue to push policies that they favor anyway."

That's a much better approach for conservatives to take. Lehrer's advice is worth taking.
