Anniston police say an Anniston man arrested on Friday hit a woman in the head with a stick.

Roman Bennett, 24, was involved in a fight among a large group of people on the 500 block of Williamson Avenue late Friday afternoon, according to Anniston police Capt. Allen George.

George said the group came to Bennett’s house and started a fight.

George said officers were dispatched and when they arrived at the scene, they saw Bennett strike the victim in the head with a large stick. The report did not mention who called 911, the captain said.

Three other men involved in the fight, Ray Woodrow Sr., 39, Ray Woodrow Jr., 20, and Kevin Roberts, 21, were also arrested Friday on misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct.

George said two other people involved in the fight, Amber Warren, 29, and Glen Keener, 31, were also arrested on misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct. George said the Warren and Keener were arrested when they came back to Bennett’s home after the fight.

George said police called Anniston EMS and the female victim was taken to RMC for treatment for a head injury. The captain said today he did not know the extent of the victim’s injuries or her condition.

Bennett was arrested on scene, according to George. He was in the Anniston City Jail Friday on felony charges of second-degree assault, according to a police report.

Bennett was released on a $3500 bond Saturday. His court date is Aug. 5, according to court records.
