What a awesome week of VBS! Kids of all ages everywhere! We learned about Paul and his experiences with God. Facing Fear, Trusting God! We raised 668 boxes of mac-n-cheese for Hearts! Praise the Lord!

We will have a Fish Fry Friday June 15 at the church in honor of our Fathers. We will start cooking at 3pm and serve at 5pm. Don’t forget the Birthday party for Arabella Ramsey also on Friday June 15 at the church from 1-3pm. On Sunday June 23 there will be a baby shower for Tiffany Cobb starting at 2pm. She’s having a girl and her name is Marlee.

Pastor Donald’s message was taken from 2 Timothy 2:15 “Why Sunday School?”. The history of Sunday School dates back to England in 1780 and moved to the United States around 1800. Many ministers rejected Sunday School because they believed only “trained theologians” should teach. Baptist and especially Southern Baptist were at the forefront of the Sunday School movement. Between 1920 and 1960 Sunday School was responsible for the growth of Southern Baptist churches more than anything else.

Why do we need that extra hour of church on Sunday? Is it really that important? Some churches are actually getting away from Sunday School! Without Sunday School we would not be as strong in our knowledge and understanding of the Bible. Without Sunday School we would have less influence on our culture and society. The real strength of Sunday School is to help the church grow and prosper.

Sunday School helps to reach people with no church background and also church members who have dropped out of church. Sunday School teaches the Word of God. Sunday School is a caring ministry of the church. It builds relationships, gets people involved and gives encouragement. Most of all Sunday School is and evangelism tool! It is a soul winning arm of the church by reaching children, youth and adults. It is a way of explaining the plan of salvation!

See you in Sunday School!
