Spring Garden graduate to study in Cuba

Zachary Glen Jones, a 2010 graduate of Spring Garden High School, graduated May 4 cum laude from Auburn University with a bachelor of science degree in agronomy and soils. After graduation, he accompanied several Auburn University faculty members and graduate students on a 10-day tour of Cuba. He plans to attend North Carolina State where he has accepted a full scholarship fellowship to pursue his PhD in plant breeding and plant genetics. The fellowship will be funded by private money from the Clifbar Family Foundation. He will be working under the supervision of Dr. Major Goodman who is a member of the National Academy of Sciences. Jones is the son of Mike and Tammy Jones of Piedmont.
