Pleasant Valley fourth in state

Pleasant Valley had an impressive showing at the state 2A track meet in Selma placing fourth overall.

The Raiders were paced by the outstanding efforts of junior Matt Bonds who placed first in the 3200 (10:04), the 1600 (4:39) and 800 (2:06) meter runs. Bonds contributed 36 of the Raiders 51 points for the fourth place finish.

Senior teammate Todd Kirk placed second in the 1600 and fifth in the 3200-meter runs.

Also scoring points for the Raiders were the 4x800 relay team of Bonds, Kirk, and ninth graders Quinton Thornton and Nick Robbins who came in third in the event.

Senior Austin Tate took sixth place in the high jump.

On the girl’s side, seventh grader Rachel Faucett took seventh in the 3200-meter run and senior Destiny Parker was eighth in the discus.
