Police were investigating a report this morning of a 1-year-old girl who tested positive for methamphetamine last month.

Anniston police Capt. Allen George said the girl’s mother entered a rehabilitation program and tests showed the woman was using meth in April. The girl was also tested on April 24 as part of the rehab program’s policy, George said.

Anniston police became involved in the investigation Friday, the report shows.

George said the girl is being cared for by her grandmother.

The Department of Human Resources is also investigating the incident, the captain said.

The mother could be charged with chemical endangerment, a felony, according to a police report.
