It's not going to happen, so keep calm. But Lee's humorous proposal is worth noting, nonetheless.
In an oped printed in the Montgomery Advertiser, Lee says public high schools that field moribund varsity football teams should be banned from playing football for one year. When that year passes, they can apply for reinstatement.
Lee also says the coaches of these teams -- winless teams, in Lee's proposal -- should be held to the same accountability. Lee's research and the Alabama High School Athletic Association say there were 51 teams last year that won one game or less.
This odd point isn't about football (though coaches should be held responsible if their teams are terrible). Instead, it's about the ludicrous components of the Alabama Accountability Act. It may take something as off-the-wall as Lee's oped to get some people's attention.
