Anniston schools Superintendent Joan Frazier on Tuesday night canceled classes for today after it became clear repairs would take some time after a transformer blew out Tuesday shortly after the lunch hour.
“Our main transformer behind the school blew out,” Frazier said. “It was a major repair and it’s going to take some time.”
Frazier said she didn’t know the reason for the transformer’s malfunction.
Frazier said she expects Alabama Power crews to fix the problem sometime today.
Attempts to reach officials with Alabama Power today were not immediately successful.
