The Lincoln man was charged with first-degree sodomy and was in the Calhoun County Jail as of Monday evening, Sheriff Larry Amerson said. A report from the Sheriff’s Office states the abuse occurred on Pettis Road in Lincoln.
Amerson said the incident was investigated by his office, the Calhoun-Cleburne Children’s Center, the District Attorney’s Office and the Department of Human Resources. Amerson said that after the incident was reported Friday, the victim and suspect were both interviewed.
“It was determined that the events reported did take place,” Amerson said.
According to sheriff, the suspect regularly came into contact with the boy.
“The abuse occurred on more than one occasion over the period of one year,” Amerson said.
Bond and a court date were not scheduled as of Monday evening.
The Star typically withholds the identities of those charged with sex crimes unless they are convicted or plead guilty, because the stigma associated with such charges can linger even if the charges are dropped or the suspect is exonerated.
