Harry Truman hung the “do-nothing” label on the 80th Congress, which served from 1946 until 1948. At the very least, the 112th Congress gave the 80th a run for its money.
The recently concluded session passed the fewest laws of any on record. Worse than the 112th Congress’ historically low productivity was the abysmal way it did its job. This week’s disjointed and poorly executed fiscal cliff bill is but the freshest example of do-nothingness.
