Well, look now — Anniston’s downtown, with the rejuvenated Watermark Tower at its centerpiece, is capable of housing a multitude of businesses in office spaces throughout the Noble Street area.
There’s just one problem — a quintessential Anniston problem. There’s a glut of office space and too few businesses needing spots to set up shop, as a Star story explained Tuesday. It’s here that we remind Anniston’s minders that improvement doesn’t always come in lightning-quick turnarounds. Slow, but frustrating, progress is progress nonetheless.
There are countless items on the agenda for Anniston’s new City Council. If any of the council members think economic development isn’t side-by-side with public education at the top of that agenda, they’re sorely mistaken.
