Sacred Heart defeats Anniston
Sacred Heart picked up its first win of the season Thursday night, knocking off homestanding Anniston in a tri-match. The Lady Cardinals won 25-21, 25-22.
Mary Wackerle keyed the win with five aces and 10 kills. Maggie Kerper added 10 assists, five kills and four assists, and Amanda Mauter added five kills.
Sacred Heart (1-2) also lost to Weaver in the tri-match 25-16, 25-17.
Olivia Potter head three kills, Haili Clark had three digs and Kerper had four aces and two kills.
Jacksonville dominates Springville
In Jacksonville, the Golden Eagles beat Springville 25-9, 25-12, 25-13.
Elizabeth Neisler led the Eagles, notching 10 kills. Taylor Palmer had 11 kills and nine blocks, Laura Rissie had six kills, Caroline Neisler had seven kills and Megan Cabrer had 30 assists.
The Golden Eagles (10-0) travel to Cherokee County on Thursday.
JCA handles Victory Christian
In Pell City, JCA beat Victory Christian 25-12, 25-8, 25-12. Kandace Postell had nine aces for the Thunder. JCA (1-2) travels to Coosa Christian on Thursday.
Ohatchee beats Saks and Ranburne at tri-meet
Ohatchee hosted a tri-meet against Saks and Ranburne. The Indians beat Saks 24-26, 25-20, 15-10 in the opener. Jasmine Crook had 13 kills, Laneshia Anderson had 12 kills and Peri Bryant had 31 assists.
In the second match, Ohatchee beat Ranburne 25-7, 25-15. Crook had nine kills, Anderson had six and Chelsey Newton had six kills. Bryant added 22 assists.
In the third match, Saks (5-3) defeated Ranburne 25-12, 25-13. On the day, Kirstin Hill led the way with 14 kills, 12 aces and nine digs. Rebecca Bowen had 24 assists and seven digs. Elisa Boyd chipped in five kills, two aces and six digs.
Ohatchee is now 3-3.
White Plains sweeps Gadsden City
In Gadsden, White Plains swept Gadsden City 25-17, 25-16, 25-20.
Brittany Brooks had 17 kills, Stephanie Blair had 25 digs, Laura Roberts had 14 assists and Keisha Leuallen had 14 assists as well.
The Wildcats (4-4) travel to Wellborn on Tuesday.
Oxford defeats Hewitt-Trussville
In area action, Oxford defeated Hewitt-Trussville 25-21, 25-12, 25-17.
Alison Schwyn led the way with 10 kills and 14 digs. Katherine Uhrin added 12 digs, three kills and two aces. Jordan McCall chipped in 18 assists, eight digs and five kills. Brittany Middlebrook had 13 digs and Logan McCall eight assists.
Cherokee County falls to Pleasant Valley
At Jacksonville, Pleasant Valley (6-3) defeated Cherokee County 25-19, 25-17, 25-16.
