JACKSONVILLE — Defending Class 4A state champion Jacksonville kept its record sparkling clean by adding a wins over White Plains and Donoho in a tri-match it hosted on Tuesday.

The Golden Eagles dispatched the Wildcats 25-16, 25-11 and took care of Donoho 25-3, 25-16 to up their season mark to 9-0.

Samford signee senior middle hitter Elizabeth Neisler led the way with 23 kills, six blocks and two aces on the night. Junior Taylor Palmer had nine kills against White Plains. Setter Megan Cabrer racked up 39 assists and Laura Risse had 18 consecutive serves against the Falcons.

Piedmont sweeps

Piedmont got a pair of victories over Faith Christian and host Weaver to improve to 5-2 on the season Tuesday night. The Bulldogs downed the Class 1A Lions 25-16, 25-13 and defeated Class 3A Weaver 25-10, 25-8.

Bulldogs' setter Brittany Strott tallied 31 assists and six kills. Tara Blanchard had 16 kills and Miranda Stewart had eight. Catie Hightower added six aces.

Saks sweeps Lincoln, 'Dega

At Lincoln, Saks improved to 4-2 with wins over Talladega and Area foe Lincoln. The Wildcats defeated Talladega 25-20, 25-16 and Lincoln 25-21, 23-25, 15-9. In the third game of the Lincoln match, Saks rallied from a 7-2 deficit. Senior Ashleigh Edwards had eight kills, 12 digs and two aces on the day for Saks. Eighth grade middle Taylor West recorded seven kills and two blocks. Senior Kattie Kulp had six aces and five digs.

Saks travels to Ohatchee Thursday for a tri-match with the Indians and Ranburne.

Oxford wins two

At Oxford, the Yellow Jackets downed Southside 25-22, 25-13 then topped Ohatchee 25-9, 23-25, 15-7. Jordan McCall had 15 kills and eight assists for Oxford. Allison Schwyn added 12 kills. Brooke Vingers had 23 assists and Brittany Middlebrook 29 digs.

Oxford (8-1) hosts Hewitt-Trussville Thursday.
