Anniston police are investigating an incident involving a woman being dragged by a car and robbed early this morning.

Anniston police Capt. Allen George said officers responded to a disturbance call on Dorsey Avenue around 3 a.m. this morning. When police arrived at the scene a woman said she had given two men driving a tan Honda Accord $240, and then asked for the money back, George said. The woman did not tell police why she gave the men the money, George said, but investigators suspect drugs might have been involved.

The woman said the passenger of the car then grabbed the woman’s arms and the driver drove off, dragging the woman for several blocks, George said.

Anniston Emergency Medical Services brought the woman, suffering from scrapes, to Regional Medical Center, according to a police report.

George said the woman recounted her original story while at the hospital and told investigators the men stole the money from her while dragging her with their car.

George said the victim told police she did not know the two men in the car.

As of this morning the victim had not been released from the hospital, and police were still investigating the crime, George said.
