TUSCALOOSA -- Alabama dropped its final home game of the calendar year in a 77-74 loss to Xavier on Saturday.

The Crimson Tide saw a 12-point second-half lead disappear in the second half and couldn’t recover.

The Tide had three players score in double-digits. Senior point guard Trevor Releford led the Tide with 17 points. Freshman Shannon Hale scored 14 points off the bench, while Levi Randolph added 13 points.

Despite only shooting 39.7 percent from the floor, Xavier punished Alabama with 38 points in the lane and 19 second-chance points.

Alabama (5-6) is now 2-3 in the month of December after missing multiple opportunities to boost its postseason resume.

The Tide will close out the calendar year with a trip to California to face UCLA on Dec. 28 on ESPN2 with tipoff scheduled for 9 p.m.

The Tide returns home Jan. 4 to face Robert Morris at 4:30 p.m.
