Case in point, the sorority bigwigs denying black applicants access to white-only sororities. One is led to believe that the younger white students are amenable to the admission of other non-white Americans to join the Greek letter and other social organizations. However, there are those with the “stand in the door” mentality who refuse to accept that the world is changing and change will continue to come to the University of Alabama.
Take a look at the area of sports. All races with the ability to play the games draw enormous numbers of spectators in arenas who cheer loudly for the participants who represent the institution(s) that were once all-white. However, some social organizations still find it necessary to maintain the infamous “stand in the door” mentality.
One has to wonder if those who object to admitting qualified black and non-white individuals to social organizations also disapprove of having non-white athletes at the University of Alabama and other once all-white institutions. There is still a need for common sense in the world, and that includes the University of Alabama.
