Anniston police charged a second man Tuesday with breaking into and stealing items from 16 vehicles last week.

Johnathan Michel Wimbs, 23, of Anniston, was charged with 16 counts of breaking and entering a vehicle and two counts of illegal possession or use of a credit card, all felonies.

Anniston police Sgt. Chris Sparks said Wimbs worked with the other man they arrested Friday, Justin Aundre Lee, 22, of Atlanta, to break into at least 16 vehicles.

Sparks said the thefts occurred in Saks on the night of Aug. 11 and Golden Springs on the night of Aug. 13.

Sparks said the cars were unlocked when they were broken into.

Items stolen included wallets, purses, stereo systems, a digital camera and cash.

Sparks said Wimbs and Lee’s identities were discovered through Walmart security footage after they used credit cards stolen from the vehicles in the store.

Sparks said additional charges could be pending for both men.

Wimbs was in the Anniston City Jail this morning. A cash bond of $5,000 was set for the stolen credit cards. Bond is set at $240,000 for the breaking and entering charges. A court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 19.
