Prep volleyball: Oxford sweeps pair

OXFORD — Oxford High scored a sweep Monday night in volleyball, defeating Saks 25-15, 25-11 and Piedmont 25-17, 26-24 at home.

Breanna Nolan managed team highs in kills (13) and digs (14) for Oxford, while Deja Owens added 12 kills.

Morgan Whaley had 22 assists, which led the Yellow Jackets. She also contributed five digs.

Katey Skinner had 14 assists and four digs.

Oxford won’t get a break today, facing another tri-match at home. The Yellow Jackets (18-12) will play Pleasant Valley and Etowah.

In the remaining match Monday at Oxford, Saks defeated Piedmont 25-14, 22-25, 17-15.

Jordan Briskey had nine kills and eight digs to pace Saks, while Baylee Snider added eight kills and four blocks.

D’Talya Lewis had six kills and eight blocks.

Saks (14-10) will play at Weaver today.

Oxford, Saks and Piedmont will play Saturday in the Calhoun County volleyball tournament.
