Donoho swept Alexandria in a road volleyball match tonight 25-18, 25-12 and 25-11.

The Falcons (16-3) are now back in the win column after they had their eight-match winning streak snapped by Addison on Saturday.

“It’s kind of a bounce back game for us,” said head coach Janice Slay. “We kind of got stagnant over the weekend. I think the girls had a little bit of a refreshed energy about them tonight. They had a little bit more aggressiveness.”

That aggressiveness showed in all three sets. Alexandria (7-11) was matching Donoho point for point early in each set, but the Falcons then went on several long runs to put each set out of reach.

Slay said Alexandria is a “good team. They just didn’t have a great night tonight.“

“We’re always expecting a really tough match when we come to Alexandria. It’s always a good one,” she said.

Corey Phillis led Donoho with four aces, eight digs and 17 kills, while Rylee Segrest contributed 24 assists. The Falcons return to action Thursday at home against Sacred Heart Catholic.

The Valley Cubs were led by Kaylee Goldson with eight assists, Kaitlin Brown with five

kills, and Haylee Holtbrooks and Madi Shanks with three digs a piece.

“When we get down five or six points in rallies it’s hard to get back up,” Alexandria coach Jordan Costner said. “The last time we played them we went three with them and played them a lot better. Today we didn’t play good.”

Alexandria returns to action Thursday at Hokes Bluff.
