Prep volleyball roundup: Lady Wildcats use all five sets to knock off Piedmont

At Piedmont, Saks defeated the Lady Bulldogs in five sets Thursday with scores of 25-23, 19-25, 31-29, 26-28,15-10.

For the Wildcats, Taylor Teague finished with five aces, nine kills and 22 digs. Baylee Snider added seven kills, eight blocks and nine digs. Tiffany Springer had four aces and 35 digs. Jordan Briskey added 15 kills and 23 digs, and D’Talya Lewis had 11 kills and eight blocks.

For the Bulldogs, Carlie Flowers finished with 12 kills and three blocks. Mallory Roberts dished out 22 assists. Torre Roberts added 10 kills, and Riesha Thompson had 15 kills.

Piedmont (13-20, 3-3) plays Saturday in the Calhoun County tournament against Ohatchee. Saks (15-10) returns to action Saturday in the Calhoun County tournament against Sacred Heart.

Faith Christian 2, Cleburne County 1; Faith Christian 2, Clay Central 0 — Faith Christian defeated Cleburne County and Clay Central in a tri-match.

The Lions defeated Cleburne County 25-11, 19-25, 15-9 and Clay Central 25-11, 25-13. Kirstyn Cotton led the Lions — who managed 28 aces overall — with 12 kills.

Faith Christian (11-14) plays White Plains at noon Saturday in the Calhoun County tournament.

Anniston 3, Weaver 1 — Taliyah Knox’s eight kills, seven digs and five assists led Anniston to its first victory of the season. The Lady Bulldogs defeated Weaver 19-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-20.

Latasha Jackson added three kills, five digs and two assists and Sabrina Walker added six digs and four kills.

Anniston (1-12) returns to action Saturday in the Calhoun County tournament.

Donoho 2, Pleasant Valley 0; Donoho 2, Ohatchee 0; Ohatchee 2, Pleasant Valley 0 — Donoho swept Pleasant Valley and Ohatchee in a tri-match.

The Falcons beat the Raiders 26-24, 25-14 and the Indians 25-7 and 25-5.

Rylee Segrest led the Falcons with 30 assists and 16 digs. Her 30 assists put her over the 1,500 mark for her career.

Corey Philis added 10 kills, 10 digs and three blocks. Camille Fink had seven kills, and Madison Gaines chipped in with four kills and eight digs.

Donoho improved its record to 25-4. The Falcons return to action Saturday in the Calhoun County Tournament

Ohatchee defeated Pleasant Valley 25-14, 25-19.

For the Indians, Courtney Poole finished with seven kills and 10 digs. Morgan Lee added six kills and 14 digs, and Silver Miller chipped in with five kills and two blocks.

Mattie Coger added 16 assists and Kaelin Cobb had 12 digs.

The Indians return to action Saturday in the Calhoun County tournament against Piedmont.

White Plains 2, Cleveland 0; White Plains 2, Glencoe 0 — White Plains swept Cleveland and Glencoe in a tri-match.

The Wildcats defeated Cleveland 25-5, 25-8 and Glencoe 25-19, 25-23,

Taylor Snellgrove led the Wildcats with 11 kills, two aces and three blocks. Mary Claire Young added six kills, and Haley Helms had 19 digs and two aces.

Lauren Mueller and Ryleigh Randall each had 10 assists.

The Wildcats (20-9) return to action Saturday in the Calhoun County tournament at noon against Faith Christian.
