Prep basketball roundup: Ohatchee, Randolph County, Saks, Anniston, Weaver boys win

Dillon Parker scored 18 points to lead Ohatchee to a 55-39 win over Coosa Christian in boys prep basketball Tuesday night.

The Indians scored 49 points through the first three quarters, taking a 22-point lead into the fourth quarter.

Tristan Woodall had 10 points and Dontavious Montgomery had a team-leading seven rebounds.

Randolph County 63, LaFayette 61: Randolph County handed defending Class 2A state runner-up LaFayette its first loss of the season.

Elijah McFarland led the way with 33 points and 11 rebounds, including shooting 10 of 13 at the free-throw line, to help Randolph County overcome an seven-point deficit at halftime. The Tigers improved to 2-0 in Class 2A, Area 9 after outscoring Lafayette 35-26 in the second half.

Willis Knight scored 14 points and had five rebounds in the victory, and Levi Phillips added four points and a team-high 16 rebounds.

Saks 69, Munford 58: Saks had five players score in double figures in a win over Munford.

Makel Taylor led the way for the Wildcats with 20 points as Monty Young recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Daniel Heard had 14 points, Roc Green had 12 and Darion Coleman had 10.

Anniston 61, Lincoln 27: Quint Dobbins led the way offensively for Anniston, scoring 17 points.

Quin Jackson added 11 points and Qua Frazier had nine points.

Weaver 79, Piedmont 62: Chris English led Weaver to a Class 3A, Area 10 victory, scoring 27 points, including hitting six 3-pointers.

Delo Forbes scored 15 points, and Timothy Hawkins pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds and had eight points. Cameron Lynch had 10 points and Shond’ McKinney had 17 points and seven boards.

Weaver’s next game is at home Friday against Saks at 1 p.m.

Ranburne 55, Wellborn 23: At Ranburne, balanced scoring helped the Bulldogs to a Class 2A, Area 10 victory. Kyle Lovvorn, Mark David Smith and Brayden Wilson each scored 10 points for Ranburne, which led 29-16 at halftime. Lovvorn added eight rebounds. Point guard Dylan Wiggins recorded nine points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals.

Corri Tignor led Wellborn with a game-high 11 points.

Ranburne (3-1) continues Area 10 play Friday at Woodland.

Hokes Bluff 61, Jacksonville 58: Cam Horton scored 25 points for the Golden Eagles, while Sid Thurmond added 16.

Isaac Haas, a 7-foot-2 Purdue signee, led Hokes Bluff with 25 points.

Jacksonville (3-3) will play Cherokee County on Friday.

GIRLS

Jacksonville 59, Hokes Bluff 41:
Virginia Poe had 19 points for Jacksonville, while Angel Kidd and Dasia Kirksey each added 11.

Hannah Evans had 16 points to lead Hokes Bluff. Carley Shields added 12.

Jacksonville (6-3) will play Cherokee County on Friday.

Cleburne County 45, Haralson County (Ga.) 43: Alisa Norton led the way for the Tigers as they squeaked out a close one Tuesday night. Norton led the way with 13 points, four rebounds and two assists.

Kiara Akles had 11 points and eight rebounds for Cleburne County, and Shawntavia Boyd added eight points, two rebounds and two assists.

Jacksonville Christian 50, Sacred Heart 36: Sarah Crook led the way with 20 points and Elysabeth Morales neared a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds for the Thunder.

JCA returns to the court on Monday when it faces Ohatchee at home.

Ranburne 67, Wellborn 32: Eighth-grader Jessie Ralston led Ranburne with 17 points and freshman Lacie Smith had 13.

Indiana Morgan also scored in double figures with 10 points and Hannah Phillips had 10 rebounds as Ranburne jumped out to a 21-9 lead in the first quarter and took a 44-17 lead into halftime.

Wellborn was led by Dymond Miles’ 12 points, and Carlee Mullinax added 10 points.

Ranburne travels to Woodland on Friday.

Anniston 70, Lincoln 1: Ki-Yana Bullock scored 12 points and had a team-high seven rebounds as Anniston trampled Lincoln.

Marticia Jackson had 11 points and seven steals, and Jasmine Prater added eight points. Quanetria Bolton had eight points and four rebounds.

WRESTLING

Weaver 60, Calera 23; Weaver 66, Wellborn 18:
Weaver improved to 11-0 on the season Tuesday night. Nick Souder (106), Wil Mizic (138) and Chase Rodgers (195) remained undefeated this season.
