Starting Monday, the Alabama Department of Transportation will close a stretch of Summerrall Gate Road at McClellan to perform routine maintenance.

Along with the city of Anniston, the department is working to replace a pipe on the road between Belair Road and Ossington Avenue, said Linda Crockett, a spokeswoman with the department.

Work is expected to start Monday at 8 a.m. and take up to two weeks. In a press release, the department recommended travelers find alternate routes while the pipe is replaced. Detour routes through McClellan to and from Alabama 21 will be set up on Ossington Avenue and Baltzell Gate Road.
