Anniston police say a man reported on Sunday that his girlfriend strangled him after an argument at their home on Maple Street.

Anniston police Capt. Allen George said officers arrested Tracy Harper, 42, of Anniston on charges of domestic violence by strangulation early Sunday morning at her home on the 3000 block of Maple Street.

The captain said she and her boyfriend were lying on their bed when an argument started. George said he did not know what the argument was about.

George said Harper became angry and leapt on top of the victim. She attempted to strangle him and scratched at his chest several times, the captain said.

According to George, the victim pushed Harper off of him, ran out of the house and called the police. George said the victim was not treated for injuries.

Harper was in the Anniston City Jail today. Her bond was set at $10,000, and a court date was set for Aug. 5, according to police and court records.
