Oxford police say woman arrested on assault charges Tuesday stabbed a man after he tried to repossess her car.

Cheri Scott, 42, of Talladega, was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, according to a police report.

Oxford Lt. L.G. Owens said officers were called to a carwash Tuesday at 8:35 p.m. on the 1800 block of Friendship Road.

When police arrived at the scene, they found a 55-year-old man whom Scott reportedly stabbed in the leg with an unknown object, Owens said. The victim was hired to repossess Scott’s red 2002 Jeep Liberty, the lieutenant said.

The victim told police Scott punched him in the face multiple times and stabbed him in the leg, Owens said. Police noted the victim’s right leg was bleeding heavily from two puncture wounds, but the man refused medical treatment. Owens said Scott was arrested at the scene, but police did not recover the weapon used in the stabbing.

Scott was released from the Oxford City Jail Wednesday on a $3,000 bond. A court appearance is scheduled for July 1.
