Sgt. Chris Sparks said the 25-year-old male victim was shot in the wrist, thigh and abdomen by a suspect he was acquainted with outside a home on the 1800 block of Moore Avenue between 2:40 p.m. and 2:50 p.m. Saturday. Neither the victim nor the suspect lived at the residence where the shooting occurred, Sparks said. The sergeant said police believe the shooting is the product of an ongoing dispute.
Sparks said the victim underwent surgery Sunday at Regional Medical Center and was able to speak to investigators that afternoon. He is expected to recover from his injuries, police said.
“We have enough evidence to positively identify the suspect,” Sparks said. “A determination of charges will be made as the investigation continues.”
Sparks said it is likely the suspect will face first-degree assault charges.
“We do not believe the public is in danger,” Sparks said. “This was an isolated incident.”
