Anniston police today were investigating a reported theft of copper wiring from an Anniston drug store this weekend.

A police report said that between noon Saturday and 8 p.m. Monday, someone stole wiring from two outside air-conditioning units at the business. The store is on the 300 block of East Fourth Street.

The total cost of the damage was $8,000, according to a police report.

George said the suspect most likely got into to the lot by jumping a fence surrounding the store. The captain said there were no suspects this afternoon. Any suspect could face one felony charge of first-degree theft and one misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief in the second degree, according to a police report.
