Who has seen the latest video of Oxford running back Racean “Roc” Thomas making an opponent’s entire defense miss in one play?

He did it Friday night, for the who-knows-how-many-this-is time of his high school career.

He did it to Pell City for the second time in as many years. I saw him do it at Pell City a year ago.

Then those little thoughts occur. We’ll rip out the October page from the calendar Friday. We’re nearing the end of the final high school season for one of our area’s great prep stars.

Yes, we’ll see the five-star Auburn commitment do it on the college level, but there’s something special about seeing his man-against-boys act right here, under our local Friday night lights.

Whatever he does on the next level, and maybe a level beyond that, we saw him do it here first.

Fans of his future teams can watch YouTube. Those who saw him do it locally can just click the play buttons of our memories, and that’s a rare tackle Thomas can’t break.

So, make it out to Lamar Field for Friday’s game against Spain Park or Oxford’s playoff game the following week. Those are the last guaranteed chances to see a great one do it here.
