Jacksonville State will host Samford in the first round of the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs Saturday.

The 24-team playoff field was announced today on ESPNU.

The Gamecocks were ranked 20th in the final regular season poll compiled by the Sports Network. JSU defeated Southeast Missouri 42-34 Saturday in the last regular-season game of the year. The Gamecocks are 9-3, 5-3 in the Ohio Valley Conference.

Samford, a traditional rival of JSU and OVC-mates until 2008, finished 8-4, and 6-2 in the Southern Conference, earning a share of the conference championship.

The game at JSU Stadium kicks off Saturday at 7 p.m., JSU officials announced. The winner of the contest will play McNeese State of the Southland Conference on Dec. 7. The Cowboys earned the playoff field's No. 6 seed.
