As if on cue, archivists in Georgia have found what is believed by some to be the oldest known video of black baseball players and is from 1919, archivists say. It comes from the Pebble Hill Plantation in Thomasville, Ga., and has been been preserved and put online by the University of Georgia. The find is so momentous that the New York Times wrote about it on Tuesday.
Reading this makes me wonder how many of Calhoun County's plantations or industries had employee teams comprised of black players during that era.
