During a meeting with constituents in Auburn this week U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Saks, was asked about the prospects of impeaching President Barack Obama, according to reports in the Huffington Post and the Opelika-Auburn News.

Actually, that's a generous way of putting it.

"Almost weekly or monthly we hear things … being done by this administration that [appear] to be clearly illegal," an Auburn resident said to Rogers.

The congressman wasn't going for it.

"I share every frustration you've got," Rogers said, "but in absence of him doing something more directly in violation of the constitution...we would be wasting time and energy when people care about the economy. ... That's what people really want us to be focused on is jobs and the economy."

"The fact is we have to remember the man was elected by the majority of people in this country. I don't understand it. It didn't happen in my neck of the woods, but he was."
