Golf notes: Huckeba wins Future Champions event

BIRMINGHAM -- Noah Huckeba shot a 1-over-par 73 Monday at Oxmoor Valley to claim

his second straight win on the Future Champions Junior Tour.

Huckeba birdied his first two holes on the Ridge Course and went on to win the Diamond Depot Invitatonal by seven strokes.

Layton Bussey edged White Plains teammate Dustin Travis in a scorecard playoff for second.

Micaela Truett shot 78 to win the girls 15-18 division, shortened to 17 holes by the weather. Morgan Prickett was second (84).

Cameron McCareeth won 11-14 boys (107). MacKenzie Prickett won 11-14 girls (50). Gage Miller won the 10-and-under division (49).

The series resumes Monday at Silver Lakes.

More golf

Entries are still be accepted for this weekend's Pine Hill Invitational, the Calhoun County Golf Tour's final event before the County Championship. Registration fee is $100 and there are unlimited practice rounds with paid entry. Call the pro shop (237-2633) to reserve a spot.
