Could there actually be a football game with Auburn in Jacksonville State’s future?

Gamecocks coach Bill Clark said today during an OVC coaches media teleconference the school was in talks with the Tigers for a game in 2015.

“I think that’s a potential,” he said. “I don’t know that’s all been finalized. I think that’s all a potential.

“That’s on the horizon. Obviously we’ve got to add another game in another spot. I don’t know if that’s official, but we’re in talks.”

The Gamecocks were contracted to play the Tigers in 2013, but Auburn had to pull out of the game to accommodate an expanded Southeastern Conference schedule. JSU still pocketed the $500,000 guarantee because Auburn couldn’t fulfill the contract.

At the time, JSU athletics director Warren Koegel said the schools would keep talking to try to put together a game in the future.

The 2015 spot opened when LSU moved a contracted date with Jax State for that season to 2016.
