Only the coffee is free.
The car wash, owned by Melanie and Jim Huggins of Anniston, opened last week on South Quintard at the site of the old Great American Car Wash. But besides being a car wash, Anniston Super Wash has little in common with its predecessor.
Melanie Huggins said the Anniston Super Wash, which has six employees, has all-new automatic washing equipment. In front of the business is a unique, custom-made vacuuming area, which is free to car wash customers.
"We had our welder to make it," Huggins said.
The business' lobby has the appearance of a coffee shop, complete with hardwood floors, a leather couch, several wooden tables a chairs and free wireless Internet access. Nearby is a wooden counter where customers can purchase candy and snacks or receive complimentary coffee.
"People can come in and have a place to visit while their car is being detailed," Huggins said. "It seemed more warm and inviting."
The car wash is not the Hugginses' first business. The couple own the Oxford Super Wash on U.S. 78 and owned Party Central in Anniston for about six years before selling it and deciding to open the Anniston Super Wash.
"My husband Jim likes the car wash business," Huggins said with a smile.
Huggins said business has gone well so far.
"Every day we have new customers, so we're really excited about that," she said.
The car was offers full detailing for $12, which includes cleaning the inside of customers' vehicles. The business also offers a $30-a-month package deal, which allows a customer to get as many car washes as he or she wants. The business' most basic car wash costs $5 per vehicle.
The Anniston Super Wash is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. More information about the car wash and about future deals are available on its Facebook page.
