Oxford police Tuesday were investigating what they’re calling a murder-suicide involving a husband and wife.

Police Chief Bill Partridge said the incident occurred at a residence in The Plantation subdivision off of County Line Road in Talladega County.

When one of the victims didn’t report for work this afternoon, officers received a call to conduct a welfare check at the home. The chief said the responding officers were able to see the two bodies through a window.

Partridge estimated that the couple had been dead for most of the day.

The chief declined to release their names because investigators had not yet notified their next of kin.

Partridge also declined to say how the two died, citing the ongoing investigation.

Efforts to reach the Talladega County Coroner’s Office were unsuccessful Tuesday.
