The Anniston Star today begins a new subscription program for its website.

Readers who view more than seven items per month on The Star’s site,, will be asked to subscribe. The print edition of The Star will not change.

The Star is offering a promotional rate for its digital subscription, charging 99 cents for the first month. Afterward, digital customers will pay $3 per week, which includes access to all content.

A combined print and digital subscription will cost $3.33 per week. The print-digital package will cost $1 per month more than a traditional print subscription alone.

Content on the website will be expanded in the coming days. Previously, only a select number of articles were posted to The Star’s website. Every story produced for the paper now will be available online when it is ready for publication.

Three other papers owned by The Star’s publisher, Consolidated Publishing, will also move to the new digital subscription plan: The Jacksonville News, The Piedmont Journal and The Cleburne News.
